District 9 · Neon City
Inkbit Neon City
7,077 neon-lit citizens. 20 professions. 77 in High Command.
WHERE THEY CAME FROM
Behind Ink Street, where the Exchange screens never switch off, the light started leaking into the back alleys. The ink there stayed wet, and it began to glow: magenta, cyan, acid green.
By the time anyone noticed, a whole city had grown under the rain. They called it Neon City, and it never sleeps.
WHO THEY ARE
7,077 citizens live here, working twenty jobs: hackers, street samurai, medics, couriers, neon DJs, drone pilots, fixers, detectives, bounty hunters and more. You can tell what they do from the visor on their face, the cable in their temple or the chrome on their jaw.
Power in the city climbs in six tiers: Street citizens, five Corporations, five Organizations, three Special Units, two Special Teams, and the High Command of 77, led by a single Supreme Commander.
WHAT THEY DO
The 2,777 citizens who hold a rank wear their faction's neon colour, and they never stand still: rain, scan lines, glitches, orbiting lights and holo halos, sixty effects in all, and every one of them blinks. Who holds which rank stays encrypted until the reveal.
